Provenance:
– collection of the construction entrepreneur Alois Trojan
– confiscated in the 1950s by the Czechoslovak state, placed in the collection of the National Gallery in Prague (registered under inventory number VO – O 7699)
– restitution by the National Gallery in Prague to the rightful heirs who included the work in our auction (placed in the NG Prague as a long-term loan until October 16, 2023)

Exhibited:
– since 1960 exhibited in the permanent exhibition of the modern French collection of the National Gallery in Prague, Sternberg Palace
– 1966 – Slovak National Gallery
– Exhibition of the French collection of the National Gallery in Prague, Japan 1987, cat. No. 70

The painting was for many years one of the main attractions of the National Gallery in Prague (featured repeatedly on promotional posters).

The painting comes from one of the most significant private collections of pre-war Czechoslovakia. This collection included masterpieces by Oskar Kokoschka, Maurice Utrillo and many other giants of world painting.

Protocol on the condition of the work, prepared by the restoration studios of the National Gallery in Prague dated November 16, 2023 enclosed.
